Julian Panetta is a multi award-winning Australian cinematographer working across drama, commercial and documentary.

His career started in the lighting department, learning from some of the country’s best cinematographers and gaffers. Simultaneously, Julian developed a career in stills photography, shooting for international and local clients such as Netflix, NBC and the ABC. This unique background laid the foundation for his versatile yet precise cinematography style.

Julian studied further at the AFTRS in Sydney. In 2020 he was awarded with a Lord Mayor’s Emerging Artist Fellowship which saw him participate in the ASC Masterclass program and a specialist 35mm Cinematography course in Sicily. He has just wrapped photography on his second feature film.

Julian has received multiple ACS awards for his cinematography and his short films have been selected for a slew of Academy and BAFTA qualifying festivals such as AACTA, Flickerfest, Aesthetica, SFF & St. Kilda.

Beyond his work as a cinematographer, he serves as the Queensland VP and National Sponsorship Coordinator at the Australian Cinematographers’ Society.
